Teachers will develop a network of thinking partners who are in similar roles.
Teachers will consider and problem-solve the unique aspects and challenges of this role.

About the Facilitators
Sandy Lanes is a pedagogical consultant specializing in early childhood progressive education, working as a thinking partner with schools nationally and abroad. Until 2019, she was the Curriculum Director at the Bender JCC for 13 years, which she helped to transform from a traditional preschool to a constructivist, Reggio-inspired program. In her tenure, the school was chosen as a lab school site for JCC preschools.

Sandy was a faculty member and CoP leader for the JCCA Sheva Center and SOS International. Over the past 25 years, Sandy has been a keynote presenter and workshop facilitator at numerous conferences and preschools. You can hear Sandy interviewing experts in early childhood education on her podcast, Awakened to Reggio.
Alex Band has been a member of the Greater Washington Jewish Early Childhood community for 16 years. She is currently the Director of the Bender Early Childhood Center at the Bender JCC in Rockville, MD. She began her journey with Jewish, Reggio Emilia-inspired, constructivist education at the Edlavitch DCJCC as a teacher, Pedagogista, and school director. Alex has been studying the Reggio Emilia Approach since 2008 and has had the opportunity to travel to Reggio Emilia three times to learn with their incredible educators.
